Game sharing is working for access to the games, but the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate online benefits are not being recognized on the account that is trying to play.
Based on the sharing model:
- On the Home Xbox of the Game Pass Ultimate owner, other profiles on that console can share:
- Digital games
- Durable add-ons
- Content enabled as part of a subscription (for example, Xbox Game Pass)
- On any other console (not set as the owner’s Home Xbox):
- Other users only share the owner’s content and benefits if the owner is signed in and connected to Xbox services on that console.
- If the owner signs out, access to shared content is removed and the system can terminate the game session.
- Xbox Live Gold/Game Pass Ultimate multiplayer benefits:
- On the subscriber’s Home Xbox, multiplayer and social benefits are shared with any other Xbox accounts signed in on that console, even if the subscriber is not actively playing.
- On other consoles, those benefits are only shared if the subscriber is signed in and online.
To fix the issue, ensure the following:
- The console being used is set as the Home Xbox of the Game Pass Ultimate owner:
- On the owner’s profile: Settings > Personalization > My home Xbox and set that console as Home Xbox.
- If playing on a console that is not the owner’s Home Xbox:
- The Game Pass Ultimate owner must be signed in and connected to Xbox services on that console while online play is attempted.
If these conditions are not met, the account will be able to launch installed Game Pass games (due to prior access or installation) but will not have the online multiplayer/Game Pass subscription benefits recognized, which matches the behavior described.
