Follow these steps in order, testing internet access after each step:
- Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter again
- Select Start and type settings.
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot.
- Select Other troubleshooters (or Additional troubleshooters depending on version).
- Find Network Adapter and select Run.
- Let it complete and apply any fixes it suggests.
- Confirm the problem is only on the Surface
- Use the same Wi‑Fi network on another device (phone, another PC). If that device connects and browses normally, the issue is with the Surface.
- If other devices also cannot connect, restart the modem/router and contact the internet provider if needed.
- Restart modem/router and try all connection types again
- Power off the modem and Wi‑Fi router for at least 30 seconds, then power them back on.
- After the network is back up, on the Surface Go 3 try:
- Connecting to home Wi‑Fi.
- Connecting to the phone’s hotspot.
- Connecting via the Telstra SIM (cellular data).
- Check and reinstall the Wi‑Fi adapter driver
- Select Search on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and open it.
- Expand Network adapters and confirm a supported adapter is listed (for example, Intel® Wi‑Fi 6 AX200/AX201/AX211, Qualcomm Wi‑Fi Network Adapter, or Marvell AVASTAR Network Controller depending on the Surface model).
- Double‑click the Wi‑Fi adapter, go to the Driver tab, and select Uninstall Device.
- Check Delete the driver software for this device, then select OK.
- Restart the Surface Go 3 so Windows reinstalls the driver.
- Install the latest Surface and Windows updates
- If any connection works (Wi‑Fi, hotspot, or Ethernet via USB adapter), or if you can temporarily connect another way:
- Open Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates.
- Follow the guidance in Download drivers and firmware for Surface to ensure the latest Surface Go 3 drivers and firmware are installed.
- If no internet is available on the Surface at all, use another PC to download the latest Surface Go 3 driver/firmware MSI from Download drivers and firmware for Surface, copy it to a USB drive, then run it on the Surface.
- For cellular (Telstra SIM) issues
- After updating drivers and firmware as above, power off the Surface, remove and reinsert the Telstra SIM, then power on and test again.
- Use the Surface app (Start > search Surface) and on Help & support confirm the device is up to date; install any recommended updates, then restart and test cellular again.
If, after these steps, Wi‑Fi, hotspot, and SIM all still fail on the Surface while working on other devices, the issue is likely hardware‑related and the device should be checked by Microsoft or an authorized service provider.
