Use of Windows 11 on a Mac depends on how Windows is being run and how the account is being used. When Windows 11 is “suspended” or cannot be opened while signed into a specific account, the issue is typically with the Windows sign-in or with the Windows environment on the Mac, not with the Microsoft account itself.
On a Mac with Apple silicon (M1, M2, M3), Windows 11 can be used in these supported ways:
- Run Windows 11 as a Cloud PC using Windows 365.
- Run an Arm version of Windows 11 in a virtual machine using Parallels Desktop for Mac.
If Windows 11 will not open or sign in when using the jwscheduler account, try the following, depending on what is failing:
- If the problem is signing in to Windows 11 itself
- At the Windows sign-in screen, verify the correct account is selected.
- Use the I forgot my password or I forgot my PIN links on the sign-in screen to reset the Windows password or PIN for that account.
- If using a Microsoft account, follow the guidance in the Windows sign-in troubleshooting article to reset the Microsoft account password or PIN as needed.
- If the Windows session opens but the account profile is broken
- If Windows shows errors like not being able to sign in to the profile, follow the guidance to fix a corrupted user profile from the sign-in troubleshooting article.
- If Windows 11 itself will not start on the Mac
- Confirm that Windows 11 is being used in a supported way on the Mac:
- For Cloud PC, verify that the Windows 365 Cloud PC subscription is active and that the Cloud PC can be launched from the Windows 365 portal or client.
- For Parallels Desktop, verify that the Arm-based Windows 11 virtual machine is created and configured correctly in Parallels and that it starts normally when launched, regardless of which account is used inside Windows.
- Confirm that Windows 11 is being used in a supported way on the Mac:
If the account itself was suspended in a Microsoft service (for example, a Microsoft account suspension), the suspension cannot be cleared from Windows on the Mac. In that case, sign-in problems must be resolved by following the standard Microsoft account sign-in and recovery guidance referenced from the Windows sign-in troubleshooting article.
