Azure for Students verification succeeded but activation fails – Unable to complete Azure for Students verification

So I can try and help you or point you in the right direction, please can you answer the following questions:

1. When you sign into the Cost management service, here: https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_Azure_GTM/ModernBillingMenuBlade, do you see the subscription listed in the subscriptions table?
2. Did you sign into the right Microsoft account when signing up for the subscription?
3. When you go to the Azure settings page, here: https://portal.azure.com/#settings/directory, do you see other tenants that your account belongs to?

It looks like your academic email did get verified, but the backend signup session didn’t finish provisioning your Azure for Students subscription—so your email is now “stuck” in a verified-but-not-activated state. Here’s what you can try, plus a path to get support if it still fails.

What to try first

1. Clear out any cached sessions

• Clear your browser cache/cookies or open an InPrivate/incognito window.

• Try a different browser or device, and even a different network (home vs. campus Wi-Fi).

1. Make sure you’re on the right account

• Sign in at https://portal.azure.com/ with the same Microsoft account you used for verification.

• Go to Cost Management → Subscriptions (or directly to https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_Azure_GTM/ModernBillingMenuBlade).

Do you see any “Azure for Students” or sponsorship subscription listed? • In portal.azure.com/#settings/directory, check if you have multiple tenants that might be hiding the subscription.

1. Try the GitHub Student Pack path (if your school isn’t on a contract)

• Go to https://signup.azure.com/studentverification?offerType=1 and choose Sign in with GitHub (use your GitHub username, not your email).

• Make sure your GitHub primary email matches and is verified.

1. If you still see “Unable to complete Azure for Students verification” Your verification record needs to be reset on our side so you can run through the signup flow again.
