unable to unlock macro in my system , mainly download from gst site

The GST e-way bill bulk upload tools are Excel workbooks that use macros and sometimes ActiveX controls. If macros are blocked or the file is saved as a macro-free workbook, the tool will not work.

Follow these steps on the downloaded GST Excel tool:

1. Save as macro-enabled workbook
   1. Open the GST Excel file in Excel.
   2. Select File → Save As.
   3. In “Save as type”, choose Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook (*.xlsm).
   4. Click Save.
   5. If Excel shows the prompt “The following features cannot be saved in macro-free workbooks”, choose No, then select Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook (*.xlsm) and save again.
2. Enable macros when opening
   1. Close the file.
   2. Reopen the saved .xlsm file.
   3. At the top, if a Security Warning appears (e.g., “Macros have been disabled” or “Enable Content”), click Enable Content so the macro code can run.
3. Unblock the file in Windows (if needed)
   1. Close Excel.
   2. In File Explorer, right‑click the downloaded GST Excel file.
   3. Click Properties.
   4. On the General tab, at the bottom, if there is a Security section with an Unblock checkbox, select Unblock.
   5. Click OK, then reopen the file in Excel and click Enable Content again.
4. Enable ActiveX/macro content (if the sheet still does not work) The government GST tools often use ActiveX controls. If ActiveX is disabled, the sheet may not respond.
   1. In Excel, go to File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings.
   2. Check the Macro Settings and ActiveX Settings and allow the content required for this trusted file (for example, enable macros and ActiveX for documents in trusted locations or add the folder as a trusted location).
   3. Close and reopen the GST tool and click Enable Content when prompted.

If, after these steps, the macro contents still do not display or work correctly, search or post in the Microsoft Community/Answers forum with the exact error message from Excel and the name of the GST tool being used.
