The account can only be recovered through Microsoft’s official self-service recovery and hacked-account process. When a hacker has changed the primary email and security info, support agents cannot manually override ownership for consumer Microsoft accounts.

    Follow these steps in order:

    1. Clear devices and secure everything else
      1. Run a full antivirus/malware scan on every device used with the hacked account (PC, phone, console) and remove any threats.
      2. Make sure Windows Defender or another antivirus is up to date and configured for regular scans.
    2. Use the official hacked-account guide
      1. Go through the steps in How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account:
      2. From there, start the sign-in helper tool and follow the prompts for a hacked/compromised account.
    3. Try password reset and hacked-account flow
      1. Go to the normal sign-in page for the Microsoft account.
      2. Select Forgot my password.
      3. Choose I think someone else is using my Microsoft account and follow the instructions.
      4. If sign-in fails or the security info is no longer yours, proceed to the account recovery form.
    4. Use the Microsoft account recovery form (ACSR) correctly
      1. Go to the recovery form: Recover your account or the ACSR link from the hacked-account article.
      2. Enter the hacked Microsoft account address (the original one that owned Minecraft), and a different working email where Microsoft can contact.
      3. Submit the form from a device and location that was regularly used with the account.
      4. Provide as much accurate detail as possible:
        • Old passwords.
        • Approximate date the account was created.
        • Email addresses frequently contacted.
        • Subject lines of recent emails.
        • Details of Microsoft Store/Minecraft purchases tied to that account.
      5. Wait for the response (typically within 24–72 hours). If denied, adjust answers with more accurate info and resubmit; it can be submitted up to twice per day.
    5. If the recovery form keeps failing
      1. If the recovery form says the account does not exist or repeatedly fails, and the hacker has fully replaced the security info, there is no alternative manual recovery path for that Microsoft account.
      2. In that case, the Microsoft account itself is effectively unrecoverable.
      3. For Minecraft specifically, contact Minecraft Support separately with proof of purchase and account details to see if they can help with game access or migration:
    6. If access is restored
      1. Immediately change the password to a strong, unique one.
      2. Turn on two-step verification and add multiple secure methods (phone, alternate email, authenticator app).
      3. Check account settings for malicious changes:
        • Connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies in Outlook.
        • Any unknown security info or aliases.
        • App permissions and sessions; sign out everywhere and remove unknown apps.

If the automated recovery systems and the hacked-account flow cannot verify ownership, Microsoft Support cannot override them for consumer accounts. The only options then are continuing to try the recovery form with the best possible information and working with Minecraft Support about the game license.
