Why can't I use it?

Student status must be verified to access certain academic benefits, such as student discounts on Microsoft Certification exams and Azure for Students credits. Until academic status is verified, these benefits—including discounted pricing for the Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900) exam—won’t be available on the account.

To verify student status for discounts on certification exams:

1. Sign in to the Microsoft Learn profile.
2. Start the interest survey from the profile settings.
3. On the “Career Paths” step, select “Student.”
4. Complete and finish the survey.
5. After verification, academic pricing is automatically applied when registering for eligible exams.

If verification fails or there are issues applying the discount, support is available through the Credentials Support channel.

Separately, Azure for Students requires academic verification (age and enrollment at an eligible higher-education institution using an institutional email) to grant access to $100 in Azure credits and related services. This is independent of, but often used alongside, preparation for Azure certifications.

Once student status is successfully verified, registration for the Azure AI Fundamentals certification exam can proceed with the applicable student benefits.
