Copilot daily maximum error

I’m unable to generate or edit images even though I have not reached my daily limit. Copilot is incorrectly returning a “limit reached” error on the first or second image of the day. This has happened repeatedly across multiple days. Please reset or clear whatever counter is stuck on my account. This is preventing normal use of image editing features.

The “limit reached” message for image generation or editing is caused by feature limits and AI credit usage, not a stuck counter that can be reset per account.

    Key points and actions:

    1. Feature limits and AI credits apply
      • Image generation and editing in Copilot consume AI credits and are also subject to feature limits that cap how often certain AI features can be used in a given timeframe.
      • Limits vary by subscription plan and feature and can change over time. Hitting a feature limit can occur even if the overall monthly AI credits are not exhausted.
      • Limits may also vary based on entry point (for example, using Copilot in different Microsoft 365 apps) and system conditions.
    2. Why it can fail on the first or second image
      • Feature limits are not strictly “per calendar day per user” counters; they are usage caps that can depend on system conditions and model availability.
      • When system-side limits or service conditions are reached, Copilot can return a “limit reached” or similar error even if personal usage that day is low.
    3. What to check and how to monitor
      • Confirm that the account has an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription for Copilot image features. Some Copilot capabilities for Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium have usage limits and may be adjusted over time.
      • Check AI credits and feature limits status by going to the Microsoft account and selecting Services & subscriptions. This shows current AI credits and whether limits have been reached.
    4. When the error persists across days
      • Because limits and service availability are controlled on the service side, there is no client-side way to “reset” the counter.
      • If the error appears consistently on very low usage (for example, first or second image) across multiple days, this indicates either:
        • The feature limit for that specific image capability is being hit quickly due to current system conditions, or
        • A service-side issue with how limits are being applied to the account.
    5. Next steps
      • Verify subscription status and AI credit usage under Services & subscriptions.
      • If limits appear normal but the error continues on minimal usage, contact Microsoft Support so they can review the account and service-side limits for Copilot image generation. Persistent misapplication of limits cannot be corrected from the client side.
