Unable to Create Custom Tags in OneNote for Mac (v16.106.1) and No Option in OneNote for the Web

Description:

I cannot create or use custom tags in either OneNote for Mac (v16.106.1) or OneNote for the Web.

OneNote for the Web

  • The Tag menu does not show any option to create a new custom tag.
  • Only default tags are available.

OneNote for Mac (v16.106.1)

  • The option “Create New Tag” appears, but when I click it, a blank panel opens and no tag can be created.
  • The creation process never completes.

    I'm not sure instructions on how to do what you already know can be a useful reply but apparently AI isn't quite able to understand that 😉. Before anything else, update Office — version 16.106.3 [or higher depending on the Update Channel you use] is the current build. Confirm that your flavor of macOS is fully updated as well.

    Restart the Mac after applying any updates.
