I received a gift card for Christmas and two of the numbers rubbed off completely so I can not read them to enter for redemption.

The damaged Xbox gift card code cannot be recovered or reconstructed through self-service. The only available path is to work directly with Microsoft Support so they can review the case and determine whether the value can be restored or replaced.

    Take these steps:

    1. Go to the Microsoft Support site and start a support request for account billing/gift card issues.
    2. Be ready to provide:
      • Clear photos of the front and back of the physical card (including any readable parts of the code and security area)
      • Proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation) showing the retailer, date, and value
      • The Microsoft account email where the balance should be redeemed
    3. Follow any additional instructions from Support; they may validate the card and either add the value to the account or issue a replacement, if eligible under the Microsoft gift card terms.

Note that Microsoft gift cards are non-refundable and Microsoft is not responsible if a gift card is lost, stolen, misplaced, or used without permission, so resolution depends on the outcome of Support’s verification.
