Unable to log into Personal Azure account

I'm attempting to log into my personal Azure account which worked fine several months ago but now it's prompting me for a 6 digit ID in my authenticator app. My Azure account is under my personal email, not a work or school account, and for personal accounts, the codes are 8 digits. I've also tried approving a code in the app, but I never get the approval request. It would appear something changed on my azure account and it thinks it's a work account now. I'm still getting monthly emails indicating I'm being billed but I have no ability to log in anymore to view my billing statement. My authenticator works fine for managing my M365 account and everything else related to my Microsoft personal live.com account.

The Azure sign-in is effectively locked behind multi-factor authentication (MFA) that is no longer working as expected. For personal Microsoft accounts, verification issues and account type confusion (personal vs work/school) must be handled through the standard Microsoft account recovery and security flows; support cannot bypass verification or directly change account details.

Use these steps that are supported for personal accounts:

    1. If any security info still works (phone/email)
      • Go to the Advanced security options page for the Microsoft account and sign in using any method that still works (for example, backup email or SMS).
      • Select Add a new way to sign in or verify and add a new phone or email.
      • Confirm the new method with the code sent to it.
      • After that, expand the old security info (such as the problematic Authenticator-based method) and select Remove.
      • Do not remove all security info at once, or the account can be restricted for 30 days.
      Steps (from context):
      1. Sign in to the Advanced security options page of the Microsoft account. Sign in
      2. Select Add a new way to sign in or verify then choose how to receive security codes.
      3. Enter the code sent to the new number or email and select Next.
      4. Expand the security info option that is no longer usable and select Remove, then confirm.
    2. If no security info works anymore
      • Start sign-in to the Microsoft account at the same Advanced security options link.
      • When prompted to verify identity and none of the listed methods are accessible, select I don't have any of these.
      • Follow the prompts to replace security info.
      • After replacement, there is a mandatory 30-day wait before normal sign-in is restored. During this period, if the old security info becomes available again and is used, the update is cancelled.
      Steps (from context):
      1. Begin sign-in to the Microsoft account. Sign in
      2. At the "Verify your identity" prompt, select I don't have any of these.
      3. Follow the instructions to replace security info.
      4. Wait 30 days before being able to sign in normally.
    3. If password is also not known

These are the only supported ways to regain access when MFA/security info is blocking sign-in; support agents cannot send codes on behalf of the user or directly modify security info.
