how do I remove devices from Defender

To remove old devices from Microsoft Defender for home, use the Defender app/dashboard and remove them from the Other devices list. This only removes them from Defender; it does not uninstall the app from those devices.

For Windows, Android, iOS, and Mac (home use):

1. Open Microsoft Defender and go to the Device protection page.
2. Open the Other devices list by either:
   • Selecting View all from the dashboard, or
   • Selecting the Other devices tab on the Device protection page.
3. Find the device to remove:
   • On Windows or Mac: hover over the device entry.
   • On Android or iOS: swipe left on the device entry.
4. Select the red trash can icon on the right side of the device entry.
5. Confirm that the device should be removed.

Notes:

• Removing a device from the Defender device list removes that device and its Defender-related data from the Defender dashboard, but does not uninstall the Microsoft Defender app from that device. To fully remove Defender from that device, uninstall the app directly on that device.
• Devices that have not signed in for the last 90 days are automatically removed from the Other devices list.
