Skype refund- when there is no Skype anymore?

Received an email saying my credit will expire unless I make a call. But it directs me to Teams. Once there- I have no idea what constitutes a 'skype call'. Seems like they just want their customers to fall off the end of the world and give up their money... They do not even reference Skype in their tags for the Q&A post!

Skype credit still works, but only for remaining paid Skype users and only from the Skype web calling experience, not as a normal Teams call.

Key points from current Skype behavior:

    1. Skype is retired, but paid calling still exists for now
      • Skype retired in May 2025, but existing calling and Skype Number subscriptions continue to auto‑renew until April 3, 2025.
      • The Skype Dial Pad is still available “to remaining paid users from the Skype web portal and within Teams Free.”
      • New customers can no longer buy Skype Credit or subscriptions.
    2. What counts as a “Skype call” to keep credit active
      • A “Skype call” that uses Skype Credit is a call placed to phones (landlines or mobiles) using the Skype Dial Pad, not a regular Teams meeting or Teams user‑to‑user call.
      • For remaining paid users, that dial pad is exposed via the Skype web portal and surfaced inside Teams Free, but it is still the Skype calling service behind the scenes.
    3. Why the credit may look unusable
      • If the web calling page says there is no paid product, either:
        • The wrong account is signed in (different from the one that owns the credit), or
        • The credit was deactivated because it was not used for 180 days.
      • Deactivated credit can be reactivated by the account owner from the reactivation page referenced in the Q&A answer: Reactivate credit at https://go.skype.com/store.reactivate.credit.
    4. How to check the right account and remaining credit
      • Sign in to the Skype profile page and confirm the Skype Name matches the one mentioned in the expiry email.
      • If the Skype Name differs, sign out and back in with the correct account.
    5. If the credit is valid but cannot be used
      • For remaining paid users, calls to phones must be placed via the Skype Dial Pad exposed through the Skype web portal / Teams Free integration. If that dial pad is not available even when signed in with the correct account and with active credit, support intervention is required.
    6. Refund options
      • Skype refunds are only available under specific conditions:
        • Unused, unexpired subscriptions.
        • Unused Skype Credit if requested within 14 days of purchase (EU customers may have additional discretion outside 14 days).
        • Technical issues determined to be Skype’s fault.
        • Fraudulent use or charges made in error, if reported within 90 days.
      • Credit that has simply gone inactive from non‑use beyond 180 days is reactivated via the reactivation link; there is no general entitlement to a refund just because Skype is retiring.
      • If the purchase was made through Apple or Google Play, any refund must be requested from Apple or Google, not Skype.
    7. How to proceed
      • Confirm the correct Skype account (Skype profile page vs. email notice).
      • If the message about no paid product appears but the account should have credit, try the credit reactivation link.
      • If credit is active but the dial pad still cannot be used to place phone calls, contact Skype support via the “I have a question about payments, billing or Skype’s paid services” path and then “I want a refund” or “I want to check my balance,” as appropriate.
