I have created my sway account but it is not allowing me to upload images. I have tried to open my sway in a different browser, upload from one drive etc but no success. Please advise.

Thank you

    Hi @Deputy Headteacher,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out regarding the difficulty you are experiencing with uploading images to Sway. It is clear that this is a disruptive situation, particularly since you have already attempted several standard troubleshooting steps without success.

Below are a few points to check that may address why the image button remains grayed out:

    • Firstly, please confirm you’re in Edit mode and that you have edit permission for this Sway (not view-only). Try clicking Edit (if shown) and see whether the Insert (+) options become available.
    • Reach out to IT department to check organizational restrictions: an IT admin can verify Sway is enabled for your account and review the organization’s Sway settings, especially service availability and allowed content sources—since these can be restricted in managed education tenants.
    • Re-check your OneDrive storage capacity:
      • Sway utilizes your OneDrive for business storage to host media. If your storage quota has been reached, the option to upload new images will be disabled.
      • You can verify this by attempting to upload a small file directly to your OneDrive account
      • Tip: as a workaround, try uploading the image to OneDrive first, then insert it into Sway from there. If you can’t upload to OneDrive either, check whether your OneDrive storage/quota is full or restricted.
    • Network filtering: try the same upload on a different network (e.g., mobile hotspot). If it works there, your school network/security filtering may be interfering and IT can review it.

I hope this information helps you resolve the matter. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.
