Because the work account is no longer accessible and the personal and work emails were not linked while employed, direct self-service recovery is limited. Use the following steps based on the available options:
- Verify the correct Learn profile
- Sign in to Microsoft Learn using all possible accounts that might have been used for exam registration (personal Microsoft account and any remaining work or school accounts).
- Check the Certifications tab in each profile to see where the certifications are stored.
- If certifications are missing, review the guidance in Missing Exams or Certifications and confirm that the required exams were passed and that the correct login account is being used.
- If access to the old work account is completely lost
- Microsoft cannot assist with recovery of work or school accounts. For any possibility of regaining access, contact the former organization’s IT/admin and ask if they can temporarily restore access or provide needed information.
- If the work account cannot be recovered and no alternate account was added to the Learn profile before leaving, access to that specific Learn profile and its data may be permanently lost.
- If certifications are not visible in the personal Learn profile
- Follow the steps in Missing Exams or Certifications to:
- Confirm credential requirements.
- Try signing in with any other accounts that might have been used.
- If still missing, contact Microsoft Credentials Support using the official support channel listed there and provide exam details so they can investigate and assist.
- Follow the steps in Missing Exams or Certifications to:
- For any complex or unresolved certification-profile issues
- Open a support request with Microsoft Credentials Support as indicated in the documentation. They can review the certification records and advise whether anything can be consolidated or corrected.
If none of the above restores access and the work Learn profile cannot be reached, future certifications should be taken using the personal account and that profile managed going forward.
