Hi Graham,
The evaluation watermark comes and goes
on Insider builds. It may have been removed
but I guess they decided to add it back.

Any of you complaining about the watermark on the desktop please file the suggestion to remove it in the Feedback Hub.
If the watermark bothers you, you can remove it using a small tool called Universal Watermark Disabler.
This tool does not activate Windows or modify your license. It simply disables the routine that draws the watermark on the desktop. Your system files and activation status remain unchanged.
I personally used this tool on my system and it worked perfectly. The watermark disappeared after running it once and signing back in.
Steps:
Download Universal Watermark Disabler from the official Winaero website.
Extract the downloaded ZIP file.
Run uwd.exe as Administrator.
Click Install.
Windows will sign you out once, then the watermark will be gone when you log back in.
If Windows installs a new Insider build in the future, the watermark may return and you can simply run the tool again.
This tool has been used by many Insider testers for years and only removes the cosmetic watermark. It does not bypass Windows activation or change system licensing.
I just installed my Windows updates and had this watermark come up. First time I've actually seen it. I don't mind running insider releases but I really like having a completely clean desktop. Only thing on my desktop is the recycle bin and that's only because you can't just delete that. So this is a tad annoying having the text there, which shows up on both screens. I just tried running Universal Watermark Disabler and it didn't work for this one. Any other methods to try and remove it? Or will I just be putting up with it until the insider release becomes the standard release?

The “Evaluation copy” watermark with a build string like Build 26220.7934.ge_release_svc_betaflt_prod1... indicates that the device is running a Windows Insider Preview build rather than a retail (non‑Insider) release of Windows 11 Home.
In the Windows Insider Program, preview builds commonly show a watermark in the bottom‑right corner of the desktop that identifies them as Insider Preview/evaluation builds and displays the exact build number. This is expected behavior when the device is flighting Insider builds.
To confirm Insider status and the exact build:
If the device is on an Insider channel (such as Beta) and that is not desired, change Insider settings or stop receiving Insider builds from the Windows Insider settings page. Once moved off Insider builds and back to a released, non‑preview build, the evaluation/Insider watermark will no longer appear.
