Hello. My school email will be deactivated later this year and all of my notes from vet school are linked to it. I need to transfer them to my personal account, but I am having trouble. I have found other forums where people have asked the same question; however, I'm using OneNote for Mac version 16.106.2 and there is no option to export. Please help!

Use OneNote’s built-in copy/move tools instead of export. On Mac, the transfer is done by signing into both accounts and copying sections/pages between notebooks.

Follow these steps on OneNote for Mac:

    1. Make sure a personal Microsoft account exists
      • If not, create one first (for example, an @outlook.com account).
    2. Sign into both school and personal accounts in OneNote
      • Open OneNote on the Mac.
      • Sign in with the school account (where the vet school notes are stored).
      • Also sign in with the personal Microsoft account so both sets of notebooks are visible.
    3. Create a destination notebook in the personal account
      • Using the personal account, create a new notebook.
      • This will be the notebook that will hold the copied vet school notes.
    4. Copy sections from the school notebook to the personal notebook (recommended method on Mac)
      • In OneNote, open the notebook that belongs to the school account.
      • Click the notebook drop-down at the top left and select the school notebook that contains the vet school notes.
      • Hold Shift and click to multi-select all sections that need to be transferred.
      • Drag and drop the selected sections into the notebook that is stored in the personal OneDrive (the personal account’s notebook created in step 3).
      • Alternatively, right-click a section and choose Copy Section To..., then choose the personal notebook as the destination.
    5. Verify everything is in the personal account
      • Open the personal notebook and confirm that all sections and pages appear and sync correctly.
      • Once confirmed, the notes are now tied to the personal account and will remain available after the school account is deactivated.

If only specific pages (not whole sections) need to be moved, use the page-level Move/Copy option:

    1. Open the school notebook.
    2. Right-click the page to move and select Move/Copy.
    3. Choose the destination section in the personal notebook and select Copy.
    4. Repeat for any additional pages.

Exporting entire notebooks via OneNote for the web is only supported for notebooks stored on a personal OneDrive, not for school or work OneDrive, so the section/page copy method above is the supported way to move content from a school account to a personal account on Mac.
