I need to copy a word document to be sent on email, but the word document does not seem to copy to another location. This is the trial version.

The Microsoft 365 trial version does not restrict basic features such as copying and pasting. A Word document in a trial can be copied, moved, and emailed just like in a fully licensed version.

To copy and send the document by email, use one of these methods:

    1. Copy/move the file in File Explorer
      1. Close the document in Word.
      2. Open File Explorer and browse to the folder containing the .docx file.
      3. Right-click the file and choose Copy, then go to the target folder (for example, Desktop or another folder), right-click, and choose Paste.
      4. In the email app (such as Outlook), use Attach file and browse to the copied file.
    2. Send directly from Word (requires Outlook as default mail app)
      1. In Word, open the document.
      2. Select File > Share.
      3. Choose Attach a copy instead and then select to attach the file to an email.
      4. Enter recipient and send from Outlook.

If the document “does not seem to copy,” check:

    • That the file is not open in a location where there are permission restrictions (for example, a read-only network location).
    • That copy/paste works for other items (text, another file) to confirm the system clipboard is working.

Copy/paste of content inside Word is also fully available in the trial. Use Ctrl+C to copy selected text or objects and Ctrl+V to paste, or use the Home > Copy/Paste commands and the Office Clipboard.
