1. Eligibility check • You must be a currently enrolled student (K-12 or higher ed) and meet the age requirements (13+ in the US, 16+ elsewhere). • You need an active academic email address (or you can verify via the GitHub Student Developer Pack if your school email isn’t accepted).
2. One-time offer • Azure for Students is limited to one subscription per person and can’t be combined with other free trial offers. • If you’ve ever activated an Azure Free Trial or Pay-As-You-Go before, you won’t be able to get the student offer again—you’d need to upgrade to Pay-As-You-Go instead.
3. Correct sign-up flow • Primary route: go to https://azure.microsoft.com/free/students/ and click “Activate” • If your school domain isn’t recognized or you don’t have a school email, use the GitHub path:
   1. Sign in with GitHub at https://signup.azure.com/studentverification?offerType=1
   2. Make sure your GitHub account has a verified email (personal or school) set as primary
   3. Follow the prompts to grab your student offer code and complete verification
4. Common gotchas • Temporary $1 authorization on your card (for non-Starter offers) — it will reverse once verified • “Free trial isn’t available” often means you already have an Azure subscription on that account • If you’re in K-12 and want the Starter (no credit card) offer, go to the Azure Education Hub or Starter URL
