I had an issue with Word on Android. I'm an author. Sometimes I go to my document and it appears to be blank! But if I scroll up and down, some of the words appear and disappear.

This was asked in another place but only partially answered.

I came to give the other part of the answer but it was closed, I couldn't post it.

I've found this issue in multiple other questions. It's not very helpful.

    Hi Susan Hawthorne

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum and sharing your experience.

I understand how frustrating it is when a document appears blank on Word for Android and the text only shows intermittently while scrolling.

I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue in my testing environment. To help narrow this down, could you please check and share the details below?

    • Does the document display correctly when opened on a PC or in Word for the web?
    • Does this happen with all documents, or only a specific document?
    • Does the same behavior occur with a newly created document?
    • Is the file stored locally on the device or in OneDrive?

Meanwhile, if you haven’t tried these yet, please try the following:

    • Clear the Word app cache: Android Settings > Apps > Word > Storage > Clear cache
    • Sign out of Word, then sign back in
    • Reinstall the Word app

Also, one user in a similar thread shared a workaround that may be worth trying if the file looks normal on a PC: copy the document’s text into Notepad (to remove formatting), delete the original content in Word, then paste the plain text back into Word on the PC and re‑apply formatting. After that, the document displayed normally again in Word on Android.

On Microsoft Q&A, questions may be closed automatically after being marked answered or after a period of inactivity to keep the forum organized. Closing doesn’t mean the topic isn’t important. If you have new findings or a workaround, the best approach is to start a new thread and include a link to the prior one, so your update stays visible and searchable for others.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas.

Given these limitations, the most appropriate avenue for product changes or feature requests is to submit feedback through the official Microsoft feedback channel.
