We think our account had been hacked. We changed the password, but the account inbox has not updated in a week. Our account sent out some unauthorized emails to people in our inbox. The one email we had gotten from Microsoft had an AOL at the end of the address. We deleted email and changed password again.

It sounds like your Hotmail account may indeed be compromised, especially since you mentioned unauthorized emails being sent from your account. Here are some steps you can take to address the issue:

    1. Check for Compromised Settings: After changing your password, ensure that there are no suspicious rules set up in your account that could be affecting your inbox. Look for rules that may be forwarding emails or moving them to other folders.
    2. Run Security Scans: Make sure to run a full antivirus scan on all devices you use to access your Hotmail account. This can help identify any malware that might be affecting your account.
    3. Use Account Recovery: If you are still unable to receive emails in your inbox, consider using the Microsoft account recovery options to regain full control of your account. This may involve verifying your identity through alternate email addresses or phone numbers.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support: If the issues persist, contacting Microsoft Support directly can provide you with additional assistance in recovering your account and ensuring it is secure.
    5. Monitor Account Activity: Once you regain access, keep an eye on your account activity for any unauthorized changes or settings that may have been altered by the hacker.
    6. Inform Contacts: It’s also advisable to inform your contacts about the situation to prevent them from falling victim to any phishing attempts that may arise from your compromised account.

If you continue to experience issues, it may take some time for Microsoft to resolve them, so be persistent in seeking help from their support team.
