Hello! I have an old laptop with an activation key sticker for Windows 7 Pro. I would like to download the original image of this OS to install on my laptop, but I could not find a legal way. Can you provide me with the download link?

You can still reinstall Windows 7 on your old laptop in a legal way using clean, original installation media as long as you have a legitimate product key. Microsoft no longer hosts Windows 7 downloads directly after it reached End of Support, but there are still ways to find installation media for it. Many archivists preserve their original media and share it online.

Luckily, I found a collection of Windows 7 RTM and SP1 media at Internet Archive's Windows 7 Collection.

I am unaware if VLSC has Windows 7, but it is unlikely for consumers alone to have access to VLSC, so these instructions are best if you do not have access to the Volume License Service Center.

I understand that you still have a valid Windows 7 Pro key and would like to find a legitimate download the installation image. Unfortunately, I need to clarify that Windows 7 downloads are no longer provided by Microsoft. Here are your possible options:

If your laptop has a recovery partition, you can restore the original Windows 7 image using the manufacturer’s recovery tools.
If the manufacturer still offers Windows 7 Recovery Media on their support site (Dell, HP, Lenovo...), that is the only legal download source today.
Find a third‑party ISO download.

However, please note: the files found online are not official from Microsoft, and often modified or unsafe. Thoroughly research before you decide to download it. Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party linked sites or any support related to technology.

To download the original image of Windows 7 Pro, you can use the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) if you have access to it. Here are the steps to download the ISO file:

Access the Volume License Service Center (VLSC).
Sign in with your Windows Live ID E-mail address and password.
Navigate to Downloads > Licensed Downloads and search for Windows 7 Pro.
Choose your download settings, including language and connection speed.
Select Continue Download and choose either the Download Manager or the Web Browser for downloading.
Follow the prompts to save the ISO file to your computer.
Once downloaded, you can burn the ISO file to a CD or DVD using a burning software to install it on your laptop.

If you do not have access to VLSC, you may need to look for other legitimate sources or contact Microsoft support for assistance with obtaining a copy of Windows 7 Pro legally.
