Clarification Needed: Copilot for Sales License Retirement & Impact on Dynamics 365 Sales AI Features
Hello Experts,
I need clarification regarding the recent Microsoft licensing changes for Copilot for Sales.
Microsoft has announced that the standalone Copilot for Sales license is retired, and that Sales Copilot experiences are now included only under the Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
I have the following questions:
- If a customer already has an existing Copilot for Sales license, can they continue to use it until their current subscription renewal? And will they be unable to renew it afterward as stated in the licensing update? (Retired license continue only until renewal.)
What happens to the AI features that were previously included in Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise/Premium? For example, capabilities such as email assistance, meeting preparation, and record summaries that historically existed inside the Dynamics 365 Sales experience. Will these features continue to work under Sales Enterprise/Premium, or will all enhanced AI capabilities now require Microsoft 365 Copilot going forward?
For customers who use the new Sales app in Outlook/Teams, is Microsoft 365 Copilot now the only supported licensing path to access Sales Copilot features?
I am looking for an official Microsoft clarification to share with customers regarding the transition from the retired Copilot for Sales license to the new Microsoft 365 Copilot–based model.
Thank you.
