Additional features, settings, or issues not covered by specific Microsoft Teams Free categories
Hello assumption viegas,
Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Q&A.
I understand how frustrating it is to have paid credit available but be unable to use it effectively, especially when trying to connect with family or business contacts in India.
Here are the solutions for the two specific issues you are facing:
Issue 1: The other person cannot hear you (One-Way Audio)
This almost always indicates that Skype does not have permission to access your microphone, or the wrong microphone is selected.
Step 1: The "Echo" Test
Before making another paid call, search your Skype contacts for "Echo / Sound Test Service". Call this free bot. It will ask you to speak and then play it back.
- If you hear yourself: Your hardware is fine; the issue might be the connection.
- If you hear silence: Your microphone is blocked. Proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Check Skype Audio Settings
- In Skype, click the three dots (...) > Settings.
- Select Audio & Video.
- Look at the Microphone dropdown. Ensure the correct device is selected.
- Speak out loud—you should see the little grey dots/bar move. If they don't move, Skype is not "hearing" you.
Step 3: Check Privacy Permissions (Windows/Mac)
- Windows: Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone. Ensure "Allow desktop apps to access your microphone" is turned ON.
- Mac: Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone. Ensure Skype is toggled ON.
Issue 2: Keypad not working for IVR (Pressing "1")
This feature relies on "DTMF Tones." If the menu doesn't recognize your input, it means the tone isn't being sent clearly or the dial pad isn't active.
To resolve this, you should enable the on-screen dial pad
- During the call, look at the bottom of the call screen.
- Click the Dial pad icon (it looks like a grid of dots).
- Use your mouse (or finger on mobile) to click the number 1 on that specific on-screen pad.
- Technical Note: If the internet connection is weak, the tone (beep) might be distorted. Try to hold the click for a split second longer if possible.
I sincerely hope these steps get your audio and keypad working so you can use your credit without further hassle. Please let me know if it helps.
