My windows 11 home is expiring

Hi, so i bought a Hp Victus laptop last year around the same time period, but it has been a week that a pop up appears that my license will expire soon next week, my question is, is this normal? do i have to buy a new license? is there something a could to if this is an error? im asking since this laptop is brand new so a was expecting that windows not expiring

No, Windows licenses typically doesn't expire, unless you are using volume license KMS.

Can you please type cmd in the search on the taskbar and hit enter to launch command prompt, then run the following command:

slmgr /dlv

Then share a screenshot please. Thanks!

Yep, you are on KMS license. That's the problem.

This type of license is for organization users only. Organizational users are required to connect to the organization's KMS server to validate license every how often to stay activated. If you are not a organizational user, you shouldn't be using this type of license. It is considered a violation of licensing terms. If you are an organization user, contact your work IT regarding how to connect to their KMS server.

Launch Powershell (note, it is not Command Prompt, but Powershell), and run this code to see if you have an OEM license on the motherboard.

(Get-CimInstance -ClassName SoftwareLicensingService -Property OA3xOriginalProductKey).OA3xOriginalProductKey

If it returns a license key, it means your motherboard has an OEM license for Windows Home edition, but you need to do a clean install in order to use this OEM license to properly and legally activate your Windows Home. If it returns nothing, you need to purchase a license.

You are welcome. If the key shows up when you run the powershell code, you need to do a clean install to install Home edition, and it will accept those keys automatically.

@WAYNE GOVEAS this thread is relatively old. However the previous response also answers your question. You have a KMS licence in use. You will need to clean install windows to clear that first having checked if there is an embedded licence in the bios.
