Windows Security > Account Protection: You are not signed in with Microsoft. I AM signed in.

On my HP ENVY Laptop, Windows 10, the Microsoft Security or Windows Security app in Account Protection at the top reads: You are not signed in with Microsoft. I go to Computer settings > Accounts > Your Info, and at the top, it displays my profile picture. The first line beneath the picture is my username, the second line is my email address, and the third line reads: Administrator. I believe that proves that I am indeed signed in to my Microsoft account. If I click on the line below "Manage my Microsoft account," it signs me in to my Microsoft account online. I come back to the Windows Security app, and it still reads "You are not signed in with Microsoft". Unbelievable! • I Googled this problem. Google said: Create a Local Account, then sign in with the Local Account. I created a Local Account. I signed into the computer with the Local Account. On my HP ENVY laptop running Windows 10, the Microsoft Security (or Windows Security) app displays a message at the top stating: "You are not signed in with Microsoft."

When I navigate to Computer Settings > Accounts > Your Info, I can see my profile picture at the top. Underneath it, the first line shows my username, the second line displays my email address, and the third line indicates that I am an Administrator. I believe this confirms that I am signed into my Microsoft account.

If I click on the line that says "Manage my Microsoft account," it successfully signs me into my Microsoft account online. However, when I return to the Windows Security app, it still shows: "You are not signed in with Microsoft." It’s quite frustrating!

I searched for solutions online and found a suggestion to create a Local Account and then sign in using that account. I followed the steps and created a Local Account. After signing into the computer with the Local Account, I checked the Windows Security app again, and it still read: "You are not signed in with Microsoft."

I also logged into Microsoft.com after creating a Microsoft account linked to the Local Account, but the Windows Security app continued to show the same message: "You are not signed in with Microsoft."

Does anyone know why this issue keeps occurring? I looked inside Windows Security, and it still read: 'You are not signed in with Microsoft.' I signed into Microsoft.com after creating a Microsoft Account with the Local Account. I looked inside Windows Security, and it still read: You are not signed in with Microsoft. • Does anybody know why this keeps happening?

Since you've already tried switching to a Local Account and then linking it to a Microsoft Account and the issue still persists, try signing out of Windows and then signing back in with your Microsoft account, or re-registering the Windows Security app via PowerShell to reset its settings. If this still doesn't work, try the steps highlighted on this similar issue

Nice going. Creating a local account confused the shit out of Microsoft now I cannot even delete the local account! DO NOT CREATE A LOCAL ACCOUNT!

If you want to delete the local account, make sure to sign out first, you cannot delete an account that is currently signed in.

I think this problem could be related to Microsoft Account devices showing up intermittently and disappearing online at https://account.microsoft.com/devices/.

This has been a known issue with the Azure backend. I'm suspicious once the device is listed correctly on the Microsoft Account devices page, Account Protection will activate in Windows Security too. Just guessing.
