SC-100 – Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Lab: Cross-tenant Synchronization

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working through a lab in the SC-100: Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect: Cross-tenant Synchronization

I’m blocked at the step where I need to Add an organization under:

Microsoft Entra admin center → External Identities → Cross-tenant access settings

When I attempt to add the organization using the Tenant ID / Tenant name provided in the lab environment, I receive the following error:

“You cannot add the home tenant as a partner.”

From investigating:

I’m logged into tenant WWLx443297.onmicrosoft.com

The Tenant ID provided in the lab resolves to the same home tenant

Entra correctly prevents adding the home tenant as an external partner

This suggests the lab expects a second (partner) tenant, but I’m unable to find any separate partner tenant ID or domain (e.g. Contoso) in the lab instructions or resources.

I’ve double-checked:

Lab instructions

Resources panel

Tenant overview details

But I can’t locate a second tenant to use for the cross-tenant configuration.

Questions:

Is there a missing or undocumented partner tenant for this lab?

Should a second tenant be provisioned automatically by the lab?

Is this a known issue with the SC-100 lab environment?

Any guidance would be appreciated.
