Stalled Vitual WAN VPN Gateway and VPN Site (cannot delete)

Following a few configuration changes on VPN Site Connections (site-to-site), I have ended up with a stalled Azure Virtual WAN Hub, where both the VPN Gateway (site-to-site) and the VPN remote site cannot be deleted any longer. The VPN Gateway now is in "provisioningState": "Failed".

  • Error when attempting DELETE on vpnGateway: InternalServerError - no VPN connections are listed
  • Error when attempting DELETE on vpnSite: DeleteVpnsiteWithExistingConnectionsNotAllowed but no connections visible

Neither gateway or hub reset nor updating configurations on gateway, hub or vpn site have helped. Attempting to force delete the entire resource group also fails.

Is there any option to deeply reset the stalled VPN Gateway and VPN Site resources, such that it may be deleted and then be recreated cleanly?

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

The backend team has manually cleared the zombie connections for VWAN,VHUB resources. You can now try deleting the resources.
