Second cameo appears during recording on powerpoint

1. I noticed you tagged your post as iOS. Could you confirm which device you are using when the issue occurs, iPhone or iPad? 
2. Have you also tested recording on the PowerPoint desktop app (laptop or PC)? 
3. Could you share a screenshot of the recording screen where the two cameos appear? 
4. I also noticed that you tagged your question with “education”. May I confirm whether you are using a school/university account (ending with .edu)?

You can try using Canva, a third‑party tool that supports recording with your camera. You upload your PowerPoint file directly into Canva and present/record from within the app.

Hi sorry to mislead, I used a MacBook pro for the recording.

The slide masters do not show any duplicate cameos, they appeared during the recording one by one on some slides but not on others.It is not an education account. Sorry to confuse you.

I understand how confusing it can be when an extra Cameo appears during recording even though your Slide Master only contains one camera frame.

Based on current PowerPoint behavior on macOS, when you start Record Slide Show with the camera enabled, PowerPoint automatically adds its own recording camera layer in the bottom-right corner, even if a Cameo is already placed on the Slide Master. This can result in two camera views being captured in the recording, while the slides themselves remain unchanged.

At the moment, there isn’t a built-in way to keep only the Slide Master Cameo while disabling the recording camera layer. The available workarounds are:

• Turn off the camera in the recording window before you start recording, which prevents the additional camera from being added, or
• Record the presentation without PowerPoint’s recording feature and use a separate screen recording tool if you need full control over the camera layout.

Since this behavior is controlled by the recording experience itself, the best next step is to submit feedback directly from PowerPoint (Help > Feedback > Report a problem) so the product team can review it for future improvements.

I hope this clarifies why you’re seeing two Cameos and helps you decide the best recording approach going forward.
