How to fix AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity?

I am trying to get into an Azure sandbox to work on a cert, and I'm getting AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity.

I've had an Azure trial tenant on my account before, many years ago, so it makes sense that the tenant would be inactive, but how do I reactivate it?

This was not a deactivation within the 20-day window - the last time I touched this account, to my recollection, was a decade ago.

The error occurs because the Microsoft Entra ID tenant was automatically blocked due to long-term inactivity. Tenants in this state cannot be reactivated, even by administrators or Microsoft Support. The 20-day recovery window applies only to recent deletions, not to tenants inactive for many years.

Create a new Microsoft Entra ID tenant and use it for Azure Sandbox and certification labs.

Access Azure Sandbox using the new tenant.

The error message you are seeing indicates that your tenant has been inactive for more than 200 days after the billing cycle, which triggered Microsoft's process to remove inactive tenants. At this stage, the OMS commerce system places a login block AADSTS5000225, Twenty days after this block is applied, the tenant is permanently deleted.

To restore access, the tenant must have been blocked for less than 20 days. After 30 days, the tenant is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

We can reactivate your tenant only if it has been blocked for less than 20 days, please share the requested details in private message so that we can reactivate your account.

Once we have the requested details, we can proceed with your account reactivation

I created a new tenant but can't verify the domain name (it was verified on the old tenant). How to reactivate it or fully delete it.
