When trying to update windows, this message is what I get:

We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet.

Run troubleshoot several times, change DNS and IPv4, disconnected the firewall, reboot router, uninstalled update 24H2, change DepenOnService and enable the AutoProxySvc.

Also, cannot login on OneDrive, even I can see one drive with file explorer.

Nothing works at this point. need recommendation to be able to run windows updates.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

Please clarify the following:

  • Do you have a third-party antivirus installed? If yes, which one?
  • Do you have any VPN software installed? (Even if it's not running at the moment) If yes, which one?

Also. What is the current "OS Build" of your Windows 11?

  • Press "Windows + R", type winver, and click OK.

If you prefer, share a screenshot. Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

Be sure to censor your email address if it appears. The Microsoft Q&A is public.

I await your reply.

To address the issue of not being able to connect to the Windows Update service, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Network Connectivity: Ensure that your computer is properly connected to the internet. You can use commands like ping or nslookup to verify connectivity and DNS resolution.
    2. Firewall and Proxy Settings: Since you've already disconnected the firewall, ensure that any proxy settings are correctly configured. If you are using a proxy, make sure it supports HTTP RANGE requests, which are necessary for Windows Update.
    3. Windows Update Configuration: Verify that Windows is correctly configured to access Windows Update. You can check the settings that control access to Windows Update in the Windows settings.
    4. Check Windows Update Endpoints: Ensure that your device can reach the necessary Windows Update endpoints through the firewall. The following endpoints should be accessible:
      • *.prod.do.dsp.mp.microsoft.com
      • emdl.ws.microsoft.com
      • *.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com
      • *.windowsupdate.com
      • *.delivery.mp.microsoft.com
      • *.update.microsoft.com
    5. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter: Since you've already tried this, ensure that you are running the latest version of the troubleshooter from the Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot menu.
    6. Check for Service Issues: The Microsoft Account Sign In Assistant service (MSA) should be running. If it’s not, reset it to the default StartType of "manual."
    7. Check for TLS Settings: Make sure that TLS 1.2 is enabled on your system. You can check this in the registry settings under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.2\Server.
    8. Reset Network Configuration: If all else fails, consider resetting your network settings to ensure there are no misconfigurations.

If you continue to have issues with OneDrive, ensure that your Microsoft account is properly signed in and that there are no restrictions on your account.
