I am unable to login to my Azure portal due to Error code: interaction_required.

The error message you encountered indicates that your tenant has been inactive for over 200 days past the billing cycle, triggering Microsoft’s effort to remove inactive tenants. When a tenant remains inactive for this period, the OMS commerce system imposes a login block (AADSTS5000225). Twenty days after the login block is applied, the tenant is permanently deleted.

Tenant inaccessible due to inactivity

If you plan to unblock your inactive tenant, it’s essential that it has been blocked for less than 20 days. After the 20-day period, the tenant is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

If it has been less than 20 days since the block, please provide the following details for further assistance via private message:

Tenant ID

Correlation ID from the login failure

Timestamp of the failure

Subscription ID

Contact phone number (add +Country code)

Its impossible for me to be blocked from 200 days of inactivity as this account is less than 200 days old. Also, I was able to login after entering my message later that day; however, I just had a chance to read your message and login again. I am now blocked once more. Please help me get back into my account.

The error code interaction_required typically indicates that the application needs to expose a user interface for the user to perform an interactive login to obtain a token with updated claims. This situation often arises due to conditional access policies or multifactor authentication (MFA) requirements that are in place for the user.

To resolve this issue, you can initiate an interactive authentication process. If your application is using the Microsoft Authentication Library (MSAL), you can call AcquireTokenInteractive to prompt the user for their credentials and complete the sign-in process. Additionally, ensure that your application is exempted from any conditional access policies that may require MFA, if applicable.

If you are using a public client application, make sure to handle the interaction_required error properly by triggering the interactive token acquisition prompt.
