USB ports on back of desktop will not recognize audio devices when connecting. I'm able to use headphones via minijack on front and by bluetooth.

Hello, I'm Jan and I'm happy to help you today. I'm sorry that you are experiencing these USB audio problem. Since Bluetooth audio and the 3.5mm jack rely on different audio drivers, the issue is isolated to the USB ports, the USB driver, or the USB speaker.

    • Once you’ve connected the USB speaker to the back port, Check the audio output settings. Press Windows key + Ctrl + V and make sure the USB speaker/USB audio is selected as the output device.
    • If you are using a USB hub. Try plugging in and testing the USB wire directly to the PC.
    • Check the Device Manager Press Windows key + X Select Device Manager Click "View" Click Show hidden Devices Expand "Sound and Video Game Controllers" Open the USB speaker/USB audio driver properties Then try to rollback the driver If the rollback option is greyed out, Uninstall the driver and restart the computer.
    • If none of these work. Try testing the USB speaker on another working computer to see if causing the same problem.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with USB audio devices not being recognized by your desktop. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check Device Manager: Open Device Manager and ensure that your USB audio devices are listed and do not have any warning symbols. If they are listed but not working, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the drivers.
    2. Try Different USB Ports: Sometimes, the issue might be with a specific USB port. Try connecting your USB audio device to a different USB port on the back of your desktop.
    3. Install Device-Specific Drivers: If you haven't already, try installing the device-specific drivers for your USB audio device before connecting it. This can help ensure that Windows recognizes the device correctly.
    4. Check Audio Services: Make sure that the Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services are running. You can check this by typing services.msc in the Run dialog (Win + R) and looking for these services.
    5. Update Windows: Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated, as updates can include important fixes for hardware compatibility issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you might want to refer to specific articles on USB audio devices not playing or malfunctioning for more detailed guidance.
