Windows 10 Updates are failing to upload to my PC

I enrolled in extended Windows 10 updates at the end of October, but after checking my Windows 10 update history today, I've noticed all updates throughout January so far have failed to upload.
I went into Settings to search for available updates to download manually but they seem unresponsive. When attempting to activate them, the update for Security says, 'Pending update' and the Cumulative update says, 'Downloading - 0%' and isn't making any progress whatsoever.

I'm no tech wizard by ANY means, but I'm sure the lack of updates is the reason for my PC's slowness and unresponsiveness over the last two or three days.

It seems like you're experiencing issues with Windows 10 updates not being able to download or install properly. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Check for Service Status: Ensure that the Microsoft Account Sign In Assistant (MSA) service is running, as it is required for updates. You can reset this service to its default StartType of "manual."
    2. Proxy Configuration: If you're using a proxy server, make sure it supports HTTP RANGE requests. If not configured correctly, it can prevent updates from downloading. You might need to set your proxy in WinHTTP using the command: netsh winhttp set proxy ProxyServerName:PortNumber.
    3. Pause and Resume Updates: Sometimes, pausing updates for a short period and then resuming can help reset the update process.
    4. Check for Safeguard Holds: If the device has a safeguard hold applied for the feature update version, it may not receive the updates. You can check this in the deployment settings.
    5. Manual Update Check: After ensuring the above, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on "Check for updates" again.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, you may want to consider performing a clean installation of Windows 10, as some users have reported success with this method in similar situations.
