Apps say my account has been locked due to too many failed log in attempts

When I use my email address as ID, it says that my account has been temporarily locked due to too many failed attempts to log in. When I change my password from there it leaves all other apps blocked. Someone told me I needed to clean my cache history, but I don’t want to loose all my tabs I have opened. Is there a way I can do this without losing the connection I have with all the sites I have opened?

    Hi Wayne Kindstrom,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

You don’t need to clear everything to fix login issues or refresh your account in Microsoft Edge on iOS. If you want to keep your open tabs intact while clearing cache or cookies, here’s what you can do:

    • Open Microsoft Edge on your iOS device.
    • Tap the three dots at the bottom and go to Settings.
    • Select Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data > Choose what to clear.
    • Check Cookies and site data and Cached images and files.
    • Leave Browsing history and Tabs unchecked to keep your open tabs intact.
    • Tap Clear now.

If you’re syncing across devices, you may want to temporarily turn off Sync under Settings > Profiles > Sync before clearing data. If you need to clear cookies for specific sites only, you can do that under Site permissions in Settings.

If your account has been temporarily locked due to too many failed login attempts, you may need to wait for a specific period before trying to log in again. In the meantime, if you're concerned about losing your open tabs while clearing your cache, you can try the following options:

    1. Use a different browser: If you have another browser installed, you can open it to access your sites without clearing the cache in your primary browser.
    2. Bookmark your tabs: Before clearing your cache, you can bookmark all your open tabs. This way, you can easily restore them after clearing the cache.
    3. Use session management extensions: Some browser extensions allow you to save your current session, including all open tabs, which can be restored later.

Regarding the password change, ensure that you are using the same method of login (like the same identity provider) that you used to register your account. If you continue to face issues, you might need to complete the recovery form to regain access to your account.
