I have a Windows 11 64 bit Dell computer. I want to download all of the details of the Microsoft Picture It Digital Image Pro onto my computer. I've enjoyed this ever since I had my first computer when I was 43 years old and had an HP Pavilion and downloaded on my computer. All I want is to use this again, it's the best there is and I've had nothing but trouble, my computer won't let me download it, I've got more than enough space. I've tried using the compatibility mode from top to bottom, that doesn't work. There has to be a work around so I can use it. Can someone please help me with this dilemma? Thank you for your kind response.

I pulled it up like you said, however the Notepad is having a hard time loading all the information down. It's not responding right now. As soon as it does respond I hope I can print it out so I can do what it says what I need to do.

I downloaded both ISO images (CD1 and CD2) and connected them via File Explorer to the virtual drives This is the contents of CD1 (open in Notepad Readme.txt from this CD): This is the content from CD2: Tell us more about the problems with downloading or installing.

Click on "ISO" and there will be a download button.:

To install Microsoft Digital Image Pro (versions 7 and 10 tested) on 64 bit Windows:

Start the installer normally.

When you see this message click OK: User's image

When you see this message do NOT click OK: User's image

Leave everything alone and sign out of Windows (right-click Windows icon > Shut down or sign out > Sign out). Do not restart. Do not shutdown.

You will then see a screen that shows that the installer is preventing sign out. That's good. Wait a few seconds and then click the Cancel button that is on that screen.

That will take you back to the desktop.

Now you can click OK on that second dialog.

The install will continue. Let it finish. It may pause for a bit, but just be patient. It should finish up correctly.

Alternative solution: Start the installation and open task manager. Watch for msiexec processes that have your user name (i.e. NOT System). There will initially be one, then two, and then three when the IE install runs. Kill the third one and the install will proceed and complete successfully.

I'm sure you're aware that Microsoft discontinued all support for Picture It almost 20 years ago. For that reason, there are no official solutions from Microsoft, and you have to rely on tips and tricks from other users, like the one you received (which I hope works for you.)

In addition, it seems you did not get the Picture It installer from Microsoft. Rather, you installed something uploaded by a third party ('Major Cadence') which might have been recompiled, in which case it could be faulty, or packed with malware - you'll never know.

Yes, that's why I bought the two disc copy of it on eBay. Because I just need the easier tools to use that I've always been used to when I first used it in the past. That's why I liked it so much. I don't need all of the other things that other people need to enhance photos because I get lost looking at all of the other ideas offered, then I get nothing accomplished. It's okay that Microsoft stopped updating it 20 years ago. I'm satisfied with it just as it is. Just as the saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." ☺️☺️

YAY, YIPPEE SKIPPY, it worked......that was the solution. I have it back just the way I wanted it. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for your help. :) :) :) :) I'm so happy. I'm keeping the instructions for the next computer I get. It [installed] with no problem. It's just perfect. You have no idea how happy I am. Now I can start doing more scanning and using this older program again. Thank you for your hard work and help. Very, very much appreciated.

Have been using MS Digital Image Suite since I purchased the disk set from Best Buy in 2004. Last year I had a tech tune up on my laptop and the software was deleted. Tried several other programs but didn't like any of them. So glad I found these instructions to reinstall the software. Working great.
