It sounds like your laptop may be experiencing issues with battery management or power consumption. Here are a few things to consider:

    1. Battery Health: Check the health of your battery. If the battery is old or has gone through many charge cycles, it may not hold a charge effectively.
    2. Power Settings: Ensure that your power settings are optimized. You can adjust settings such as display brightness, display timeout, and sleep mode to help conserve battery life. For example, reducing display brightness can significantly decrease power consumption.
    3. Software Impact: Sometimes, certain applications or drivers can cause excessive power consumption. Monitor which applications are running and check for any that may be using more power than expected.
    4. Hardware Issues: There could be a hardware issue causing the battery to drain quickly. Ensure that all device drivers are correctly installed, as missing or incorrect drivers can affect performance.
    5. Testing: If possible, run a battery assessment to check for any energy efficiency issues. Make sure your laptop is configured correctly for such tests, including having wireless functionality enabled and antivirus software running.

If the problem persists, it may be worth consulting with HP support or a technician for further diagnosis.
