One Drive app V7.45.1 (android) not working with Android OS 16 on SM-G736U (Xcover 6)

This started back in Mid December, we were hoping the Ondrive App update on 1/8 would resolve, but we're still having the same issue. Devices are managed in intune.

We tried the below and this didn't resolve the issue with the app crashing. Are any resources from MS working with Samsung to identify and try to resolve the issue?

We have identified that the latest version of the OneDrive app may have compatibility issues with the Samsung account app, causing this issue to occur.

A permanent solution will be released via an app update very soon.

As a temporary workaround, we were advised to unlink your Samsung and Microsoft accounts by following these steps:

- Settings > Samsung accounts > Linked accounts > Microsoft > More options > Unlink.

As the update will be released soon, we'd advise you to keep everything up to date following these steps:

- Play Store > Initial top right > Manage apps and device > Update All.

- Galaxy Store > Menu (bottom right) > Updates > Update All.

    Hi @Clarke, Matthew A

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, OneDrive for Android version 7.45.1 is crashing on devices running Android 16 on the Samsung XCover6 model SM G736U that are managed with Intune. I understand how disruptive this is for your users, and I appreciate the detailed troubleshooting steps you have already taken, including unlinking Samsung and Microsoft accounts and ensuring that both the Play Store and Galaxy Store are up to date.

This behavior appears to be related to a compatibility issue between the current OneDrive build and the Samsung Account service on Android 16. In addition, the issue can become more noticeable in environments where Intune policies interact with device account services and background processes. Although an app update is already in progress to address this, the actions you have taken so far are the best interim measures. However, due to the level of complexity involved, further investigation by the Intune support team is required to ensure a complete and tailored resolution.

For this reason, please create a support case with the Microsoft Intune team through the Intune admin center under Help and support. If you need further assistance, you may also contact your IT administrator or submit a support request directly to Microsoft through the Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

When you open the ticket, please include the device model, the Android build number, the OneDrive app version, the timestamps of recent crashes, whether unlinking the accounts changed the behavior, and any relevant Company Portal diagnostic logs. Sharing this information will help the support team analyze the issue more efficiently and accelerate the investigation.

If you decide to submit a support ticket, feel free to share the ticket number with us. I will be happy to follow the progress from our side as well.

Thank you again for your understanding. Please let me know if you need any assistance with the process.

Wishing you a great day ahead.

It appears that you are experiencing issues with the OneDrive app (version 7.45.1) on your Samsung Galaxy Xcover 6 running Android OS 16. Based on your description, the app may have compatibility issues with the Samsung account app, which could be causing the crashes.

As a temporary workaround, unlinking your Samsung and Microsoft accounts may help alleviate the problem until a permanent solution is released through an app update. Additionally, ensuring that both the Play Store and Galaxy Store apps are up to date can help maintain compatibility and functionality.

Since you mentioned that devices are managed in Intune, it might also be beneficial to check if there are any specific policies or configurations that could be affecting the app's performance.

For the most accurate and timely updates regarding the app's compatibility and any fixes, keeping an eye on announcements from Microsoft regarding OneDrive updates is advisable.
