    Dear Kate Harrison

Thank you for your question and for sharing the details into Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I understand it can be frustrating when a printer shows “offline” and jobs don’t reach the queue, even with a solid blue light and both devices on the same Wi‑Fi. If you haven’t reviewed the AI guidance yet, it appears well‑suited to this scenario and outlines a practical sequence you can try to bring the printer online. You may also proceed with the steps below to check if this resolves the behavior.

    1. Quick checks in Windows
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > [Your HP ENVY 6130e].
    • Open Open print queue > in the Printer menu, make sure “Use Printer Offline” is not selected.
    • Run the troubleshooter: Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Printer.
    1. Confirm the printer is reachable on the network
    • Open HP Smart on the Surface Pro and make sure the printer is added and shows Online.
    • Note the printer’s IP address in HP Smart (or print a network configuration page from the printer).
    1. Refresh the Print Spooler & power cycle devices
    • Restart the Print Spooler:
    • Press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter > find Print Spooler > Restart.
    • Power cycle in order: printer > router > Surface Pro (turn each off for ~30 seconds, then back on).
    1. Update or reinstall
    • In HP Smart, check for printer firmware updates and apply if available.
    • In Settings > Printers & scanners > Remove device for the printer, then Add device again (prefer adding via HP Smart or by IP as above).
    • Temporarily disable VPN/firewall/security suite to test printing, then re‑enable afterward.
    1. USB test (optional)

If convenient, connect the printer via USB and try printing.

If USB works, the issue is likely with network/port configuration rather than the printer itself.

I hope these steps help restore printing from your Surface Pro to the HP ENVY 6130e promptly. Wishing you a smooth experience getting the printer online and completing your print jobs without interruption.

To troubleshoot the issue of your Surface Pro not printing to your HP ENVY 6130E, follow these steps:

    1. Check Printer Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the Wi-Fi network. Since the blue light on the printer is solid, it indicates that it is connected.
    2. Verify Printer Status: On your Surface Pro, check if the printer is in a problematic state. Go to the printer settings and see if it shows any errors or if it is marked as offline. If it is offline, try restarting the printer.
    3. Restart the Print Spooler Service: Sometimes, the print spooler service may need to be restarted. You can do this by:
      • Opening the Services application, finding Print Spooler, right-clicking it, and selecting Restart.
      • Alternatively, you can use Command Prompt or PowerShell to restart the service.
    4. Reinstall the Printer Driver: If the printer is still not responding, consider uninstalling the printer driver and then reinstalling it. This can help resolve any driver-related issues.
    5. Check Printer Queue: Ensure that there are no stuck print jobs in the queue. If there are, clear the queue and try printing again.
    6. Run the Printer Troubleshooter: Use the built-in printer troubleshooter on your Surface Pro to identify and fix any issues. You can find this in Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider checking for any firmware updates for your printer on the manufacturer's website.
