How to resubmit business verification after denial for the 4K credits?

Hi,

I'm looking for help with resubmitting my business verification for the 5K Azure Startup Credits.

I recently got accepted for the 1K credits, and have used most of them in 2-3 weeks. Only ~$80 left now.

A couple of days ago, I applied for the additional $4,000 through business verification, but my application was denied.

On portal.azure.com, if I click "Check verification status", all I see is the following image:SS-2026-01-07 at 15.25.04@2x

Why did my application get denied?

  • I submitted a valid canadian sole proprietorship business
  • My email address uses my business domain

Most importantly, how can I get a second chance at resubmitting my application?

Thanks!

Hi Maxime Dupré

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing the details of your Azure Startup Credits experience.

I understand your concern regarding the denial of the business verification required for the additional $4,000 credits, especially after successfully receiving and using the initial $1,000.

Why the verification was denied:

Business verification for Azure Startup / Founders Hub credits is performed by a third-party verification provider as part of the program’s compliance process. For security and compliance reasons, the specific reason for a denial is not displayed in the Azure portal and is not visible to Azure Support teams.

As a result, the portal may only show the “Check verification status” option without providing additional details or an option to resubmit.

Once a business verification is denied, there is no self-service option in the Azure portal to reapply or resubmit. This behavior is expected and aligns with the program design

If you have direct access to Microsoft Founders Hub for Startups, you can use self-service support form: https://foundershub.startups.microsoft.com/support-form

  1. Sign in to the Founders Hub Portal.
  2. Select the "?" icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Select "Submit a Support Ticket". Attach relevant documents or screenshot of errors as needed.

The Founders Hub team will review your request and advise whether a re-verification or additional documentation can be considered.

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any queries in comments.

    Hi @Maxime Dupré

    Hi Maxime,

Thanks for reaching out ot Microsoft Q&A and for providing the detailed write-up; that really helps in a case like this!

First, sorry to hear the $4K business verification came back denied, especially with your $1K balance already running low. I know that's a stressful spot to be in.

Why you're not seeing a reason for the denial

Business verification for the Azure Startup credits (the step that unlocks the extra $4,000 on top of your initial $1,000) is handled by a third-party verification provider as part of the program's compliance process. From what I've seen on other threads with this exact issue, the specific reason for a denial isn't surfaced in the Azure portal — and it's not visible to Azure Support either. That's why "Check verification status" just shows you that image with no explanation or resubmit button. It's not something you're missing on your end; the portal genuinely doesn't expose more detail here, even though you submitted a valid sole proprietorship and a business-domain email.

Is there a way to get a second look?

There's no self-service "resubmit" option inside portal.azure.com for a denied business verification; that part is expected behavior, not a bug. Your best documented path is:

    1. Sign in to the Founders Hub portal (if you have access to it).
    2. Click the "?" icon in the top-right corner.
    3. Look for Submit a Support Ticket, and attach your verification screenshot plus your business/domain documents.

That said, I want to be upfront with you: I've seen a comment posted just today on the same thread I'm drawing this from, where someone hit this exact situation and said the "Submit a Support Ticket" option isn't showing up for them anymore in that "?" menu. So that path may be inconsistent right now depending on when/how your account was set up.

If that option isn't there for you either, your fallback is the Get Program Support option under the Your Microsoft Team tile in the Azure portal; that's the general documented entry point for Microsoft for Startups Program Support issues, separate from the Founders Hub ticket form.

One thing to set expectations on: since the denial reason isn't visible even to support staff, this will likely mean a manual re-review by the verification team rather than someone being able to just tell you what went wrong on the spot. I'd attach as much supporting documentation as you can up front (business registration, proof of domain ownership) to give the re-review the best shot.

Hope this points you in the right direction — let us know how it goes, especially if the support ticket option is a dead end for you too, since that seems to be a moving target right now.

Please 'Upvote ' (thumbs-up) and 'Accept' as an answer if the response was helpful. This will benefit other community members who face the same issue.

    Best regards, Andrew S Taylor
