A cloud-based identity and access management service for securing user authentication and resource access
AADSTS5000225 – Tenant blocked due to inactivity – no access to Azure Portal or Support
Kind regards, MathieuHello,
I am experiencing an issue where my Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) tenant appears to be blocked due to inactivity. As a result, I am unable to sign in to any Microsoft portals.
Observed behavior:
Sign-in fails with error AADSTS5000225
Message indicates the tenant is blocked due to inactivity
Azure Portal, Entra admin center, Azure CLI, and Support portal are all inaccessible
Because authentication is blocked at the tenant level, I cannot open a support request through the Azure portal.
This tenant contains my primary work account, which is linked to external services (such as GitHub) and other Microsoft products, so recovering or properly migrating this identity is very important to me.
Questions:
What is the correct escalation path when the tenant is blocked and the Support portal itself is inaccessible?
Is there a Microsoft process to request tenant reactivation or a temporary unblock for identity recovery?
Should this be handled through Azure Support, Entra ID Support, or another channel?
I can provide the tenant ID, correlation IDs, and account details privately to a Microsoft moderator if needed.
Thank you for any guidance.
Kind regards,
