Can't delete microsoft account cuz of inactive azure.

You cannot remove the association yourself if your personal Microsoft account is still linked to an old/inaccessible Azure (Entra) tenant.

Because the tenant still exists:

• Microsoft blocks deletion of your Microsoft account
• Inactivity does not automatically remove the link

What you need to do

Contact Microsoft Support and request Microsoft-assisted removal.

Use this wording:

My personal Microsoft account is associated with an inactive Azure/Entra tenant that I can no longer access. This association is blocking account deletion. Please remove my account from the abandoned tenant.

Once Microsoft removes the association, you’ll be able to delete your Microsoft account normally.

How to open the ticket (step-by-step)

1. Go to Microsoft Support
2. Sign in with the personal Microsoft account
3. Choose:
   • Account & billing
   • Microsoft account
   • Close account / account deletion issue
   1. Select Chat or Phone support

If asked for proof of ownership, be ready to verify:

• Account email
• Recovery email or phone
• Approximate tenant creation timeframe

If Microsoft asks for tenant access

Tell them explicitly:

• The tenant is inactive
• You cannot sign in
• You are requesting backend tenant cleanup

Support teams have internal tools to:

• Remove your MSA from the tenant
• Or fully retire the abandoned tenant

After Microsoft removes the association

Once support confirms the cleanup:

1. Go to account.microsoft.com
2. Start the account deletion process again

The block will be gone.
