I did not find delete. When I right click on a song I get : play, play next, add to, Edit info, properties, show album, show artis and select. I've used media player for many years but do not like this new version.

I too want to delete songs from my Media Player but when I click on the song right or left there is no delete option.

Your tutorials all give the same information on deleting a song but I see I'm not the only one who has this problem.

To delete songs from your music list in Windows Media Player, you can follow these general steps:

Open Windows Media Player: Launch the application on your computer.
Navigate to Your Library: Go to the library section where your music is listed.
Select the Song: Click on the song you wish to delete from your music list.
Delete the Song: Right-click on the selected song and choose the Delete option from the context menu. You may also find a delete option in the command bar.
Confirm Deletion: If prompted, confirm that you want to delete the song.

This will remove the song from your library. If you want to delete the actual file from your computer, ensure that you select the option to delete it from the library and the computer, if available.

First, if you want to remove a song from your library, open Windows Media Player, go to the Library tab, and navigate to Music > Songs or Albums. Find the track you want to delete, right-click it, and choose Delete. You’ll see two options:

Delete from library only (keeps the file on your computer)

Delete from library and computer (removes the file completely)

Pick the one that suits your needs.

Second, if the song is part of a playlist, open Windows Media Player, go to Playlists, select the playlist, right-click the song, and choose Remove from list. This only removes it from the playlist, not from your computer.

Last, if you want to clean up your library without losing files, always select Delete from library only. This way, your music stays on your PC but is no longer shown in Media Player.

I do not have a Delete option in my Dropdown menu when I right click. I have confirmed that I am in Music Library of my Media Player. I am using WIN11 with its new software. Thank you for any assistance you can provide me. MLB865 ******@gmail.com

So, if you're in the main menu of the media player before you play any music or click on an alblums, it's actually in the bottom left under settings. Click settings and the 2nd option is "music/video library locations" you can add or remove files from here. Took me a minute to figure out.

PLEASE show us a reasonably simple method to delete a track form a playlist that really works.
In my case the playlist BOTH shows and plays the track form my library and the the track from the ONE-DRIVE copy. -- If I were able to delete a track which one should I delete?
The obvious question: WHY does my Media Player BOTH show and then play copies?
Perhaps it is time for an updated version of media player?? I will try on an older WIN 10 machine, but it seems that the older version of media player was much more user friendly in the delete process.

I agree with Lee Brevik. THERE IS NO DELETE!!! To me it looks like you had too many teams building your media player and they didn't work together. Consequently, the DELETE option is really screwed up and archaic. Get a team together and get your delete option fixed. We pay a lot of money for your system, get it fixed!
