edge running in Linux closes when downloading a file

I get how inconvenient it feels when your browser shuts down every time you try to download something. What’s happening here is a known issue in certain Edge builds on Linux, version 142 has a bug that causes crashes during the download process, especially when the file chooser or “Save as” dialog opens. The quickest way to fix this is to update Edge to the latest stable build because Microsoft has already pushed crash fixes in newer releases. In the meantime, you can turn off the “Ask where to save each file” option in Settings under Downloads and avoid clicking “Open” right after downloading since those actions often trigger the crash. If you’re using Wayland, try switching to an X11 session or launch Edge with --ozone-platform=x11 to see if that helps. Also, test with extensions disabled by running microsoft-edge-stable --disable-extensions --disable-gpu to rule out conflicts.
