Hi i have very annoying problem with webwiew2 and i don't know how to fix it, i try explain it clear .

I done fresh windows install from most recent iso what downloaded from Microsoft.

After install all good with webwiew2 then i update edge, next update all appx frok windows store all good. But then i install system updates and after reboot webwiew2 is no at appconatainer.

instead C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy\AC\Temp

what is annoying , when do fresh install it can happen or not , it randomly happening every install , at another pc after 2 installs it was correct. With the same stages install os , do all updates.

At affected system what not helping so please do not say me do it. !

Reinstall windows also no help! it random , and this is stuped reinstalling it 100500 times to get correct configuration need correct fix for it .

For those who don't understand, the problem is that webview2, which runs as a child process of SearchHost.exe, runs without an appcontainer, and the problem appears after installing all updates after a fresh installation. However, it may not appear, meaning it's unclear what's causing it; perhaps it's the order in which Windows decides to install updates during different installations. There are no errors in the event logs, and there's no way to fix it. Resetting apps, re-registering manifests, checking the system integrity ,nothing helps.

The only thing that helps is reinstalling the system and hoping that this time all the updates will be installed in the right order, but this is nonsense and stupid.

I've already reinstalled the system 4 times and I haven't been able to find a "successful configuration"

On another system, I got a successful configuration on the 3rd try.

I also have this problem. Webview2 is need of repair of some sort. It was working OK, but then the early December update of windows 11 (KB5070311) arrived and now webview2 doesn't work. It's also not letting my widgets work correctly. I also cannot run WhatsApp nor can I play any of my g5.com games. I have not been able to find the runtime file to see if it works. I tried all the things that they told me to do in my other help ticket. I understand some computer stuff, but this is over this 69 year old person's head.

I'm at a loss of what to do now. I have windows 11 home edition.

In my case, it works, even though it's broken and running in non appcontainer , but this is a huge security hole. I've been studying two clean systems for a 3 day's now, a fresh install and an update 1 have bug other don't have, and I don't see any difference or reason why it's broken. I'm inclined to think it's related to the update installation order. When the system chooses the correct order, everything is fine, but if it's not, this bug occurs, since I don't know how to explain the fact that it may or may not manifest itself. Reinstalling the system every time or cloning the drive from a backup every time it breaks will kill the SSD.

The problem has nothing to do with the hardware, as it occurred alternately on both computers. It also has nothing to do with security settings such as VBS. I deliberately tried disabling them, and enabling everything possible to the maximum. If it was working, it will continue to work; if it was broken, it will remain broken.

I suspect that the problem in my case is related to KB5072033 , or with some framework components for app's.

And the question is whether other applications that should run in the container are also broken, but with WebView2, the most dangerous thing is that even with advertising and web search disabled, it searches for applications in the store by showing ads. It will be very bad if the ad turns out to be an exploit of a web vulnerability; it will immediately break into the user's environment without a container.

Deleting KB5072033 latest security update fix problem! now i try reinstall that update and see if problem will still exist , at another pc update is installed and no problem ( after i was get there "success installation and updates in right order"

after reinstall it again break appcontainer uninstalling and reinstalling it at another pc with "success config" keep working appcontainer. So "bug" activates depending at pc sid/uuid ?

So, if I want the system to work stably and be secure, I'll still have to reinstall it and hope for a lucky configuration or system ID, to get out of the Bug "buggy Feature" activation list.

I found 3 WebView2 files on my computer - 3/21/24, 11/11/25 and 12/9/25. And I have not found any file labelled WebView runtime.

Edge 143.0.3650.96 was updated on 12/19/25 (released 12/18/25).

On Thursday 12/18 everything worked just fine when I cut my laptop off to go to bed.

On Friday morning 12/19, Edge downloaded new update. After that, my widgets don't work, WhatsApp doesn't work right, and I can't get my G5 games to work.

I don't think the WebView2 is broken, I think it's caused by the Edge update. But I don't know why or how. There must be some code in Edge that causes these problems.

I'm going to go out to WebView2 feedback and put in a ticket now.

For those who don't understand, the problem is that webview2, which runs as a child process of SearchHost.exe, runs without an appcontainer, and the problem appears after installing all updates after a fresh installation. However, it may not appear, meaning it's unclear what's causing it; perhaps it's the order in which Windows decides to install updates during different installations. There are no errors in the event logs, and there's no way to fix it. Resetting apps, re-registering manifests, checking the system integrity ,nothing helps.

The only thing that helps is reinstalling the system and hoping that this time all the updates will be installed in the right order, but this is nonsense and stupid.

I've already reinstalled the system 4 times and I haven't been able to find a "successful configuration"

On another system, I got a successful configuration on the 3rd try.

I also have this problem. Webview2 is need of repair of some sort. It was working OK, but then the early December update of windows 11 (KB5070311) arrived and now webview2 doesn't work. It's also not letting my widgets work correctly. I also cannot run WhatsApp nor can I play any of my g5.com games. I have not been able to find the runtime file to see if it works. I tried all the things that they told me to do in my other help ticket. I understand some computer stuff, but this is over this 69 year old person's head.

I'm at a loss of what to do now. I have windows 11 home edition.

In my case, it works, even though it's broken and running in non appcontainer , but this is a huge security hole. I've been studying two clean systems for a 3 day's now, a fresh install and an update 1 have bug other don't have, and I don't see any difference or reason why it's broken. I'm inclined to think it's related to the update installation order. When the system chooses the correct order, everything is fine, but if it's not, this bug occurs, since I don't know how to explain the fact that it may or may not manifest itself. Reinstalling the system every time or cloning the drive from a backup every time it breaks will kill the SSD.

The problem has nothing to do with the hardware, as it occurred alternately on both computers. It also has nothing to do with security settings such as VBS. I deliberately tried disabling them, and enabling everything possible to the maximum. If it was working, it will continue to work; if it was broken, it will remain broken.

I suspect that the problem in my case is related to KB5072033 , or with some framework components for app's.

And the question is whether other applications that should run in the container are also broken, but with WebView2, the most dangerous thing is that even with advertising and web search disabled, it searches for applications in the store by showing ads. It will be very bad if the ad turns out to be an exploit of a web vulnerability; it will immediately break into the user's environment without a container.

Deleting KB5072033 latest security update fix problem! now i try reinstall that update and see if problem will still exist , at another pc update is installed and no problem ( after i was get there "success installation and updates in right order"

after reinstall it again break appcontainer uninstalling and reinstalling it at another pc with "success config" keep working appcontainer. So "bug" activates depending at pc sid/uuid ?

So, if I want the system to work stably and be secure, I'll still have to reinstall it and hope for a lucky configuration or system ID, to get out of the Bug "buggy Feature" activation list.

I found 3 WebView2 files on my computer - 3/21/24, 11/11/25 and 12/9/25. And I have not found any file labelled WebView runtime.

Edge 143.0.3650.96 was updated on 12/19/25 (released 12/18/25).

On Thursday 12/18 everything worked just fine when I cut my laptop off to go to bed.

On Friday morning 12/19, Edge downloaded new update. After that, my widgets don't work, WhatsApp doesn't work right, and I can't get my G5 games to work.

I don't think the WebView2 is broken, I think it's caused by the Edge update. But I don't know why or how. There must be some code in Edge that causes these problems.

I'm going to go out to WebView2 feedback and put in a ticket now.
