After I transcribe an audio, I listen to it while looking at the transcript. It will stop playing in the middle of the audio but I can't get it to start again without getting out of it and going back in.

It seems that the issue you're experiencing with audio playback stopping unexpectedly while transcribing might be related to how the audio is managed during playback. In the context of audio playback, it's noted that when an author plays back audio after making changes to the document, there can be a small delay before the audio starts playing again. Additionally, if you are typing over recognized text and then select it to dictate again, both the original and new audio will play back, which could also affect playback continuity.

Unfortunately, the context does not provide specific troubleshooting steps for the playback stopping issue. However, ensuring that your audio settings are correctly configured and that you are not making conflicting edits while listening may help improve the experience.

If the problem persists, consider checking for updates or support from Microsoft regarding the specific application you are using for transcription, as there may be additional settings or updates that could resolve the issue.

    Hi Jill,

Thanks for reaching out about the issue you are experiencing with audio playback during transcription I understand how disruptive it can be when the audio stops halfway through and you have to exit and reopen the file just to keep listening. When you are trying to review a transcript and the playback suddenly stops it can break your focus and slow down your workflow, so I completely see why this would be frustrating.

Aside from the previously noted behavior related to editing and playback delays another potential cause is that the playback session may be timing out or running into a temporary memory interruption while the app processes the transcript in the background. Closing other running apps or browser tabs can sometimes help because limited system resources may cause the audio to pause unexpectedly. Clearing your browser cache or restarting the app can also refresh the playback engine and improve stability. If you are using the web version testing the playback in another browser can help determine whether the issue is browser specific. Making sure that your device audio drivers and the transcription app are fully updated may also prevent playback interruptions since updates often include reliability improvements.

When the playback stops do you notice if it happens at the same point every time or does it occur at random moments depending on the audio file?

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo
