Nothing but trouble with Windows updates!!!!

AI told me to try a few things, all of them I have tried multiple times: use another USB port (I even tried another mouse, but both were on their list of problems created by themselves), re-installing, all is done!!!! Why would they force me to go back to a wired mouse? I carry my laptop around and having a mouse connected to it is a bother and anyway, it is 2026 almost, why would I go back to something I haven't used is more than a decade? Yes, it said, no compensation, that is why they couldn't care less! They should be responsible for the harm they cause and pay for it, so they would think twice before doing it! AWFUL!

You can pause updates, but there are consequences:

The pros

• No new bugs introduced
• Your mouse will likely stay stable

The cons

• You stop receiving security patches
• Some apps may eventually stop working
• You may be forced into a large update later, which is more disruptive

If you want to pause updates for 5 weeks:

Open Settings

Go to Windows Update

Click Pause for 1 week

Click again to extend it up to 5 weeks

Or you can use run to stop it long term:

1. Press Win + R
2. Type:

      services.msc
   

3. Find Windows Update
4. Double‑click it
5. Change Startup type to Disabled
6. Click Stop
7. Click OK

If I let updates go on, they wreck my system, waste weeks connecting to God knows how many people from Microsoft, mostly, I believe, bots, have had to re-install Windows, the stress is absolutely horrendous! Do you suggest I go on like that? Myself and millions out there, because this impacts not only me. Look at the page Microsoft runs, where they details all the problems they case, seemingly, trying to fix other problems! If I stop updates, as you say, that can create huge problems! Therefore, Microsoft is like a Sadist, wrecking our lives no matter what we do! That while some people, including Mr. Gates, get horrendously rich and do a lot of charity. Do you see anything wrong here at all?

Charity begins at home and should begin with those who are paying for everything, even when they don't have much themselves! "Robbing Peter to give to Paul", is a very odd and immoral concept! As I said, for many years, since the early 2000 there are no or hardly any updates, everything worked fine, Windows was merely something in the background! In the past 2 years or longer, it has become a cancer in society, as huge amounts of people rely on it. Everybody working from home or the beach, maybe? They are permanently trying to correct what they did wrong, with disastrous consequences, maybe all hired on the cheap too? A while ago I was getting weekly updates, then I had some every day. Do you still see nothing wrong with it? And no right to compensation either! Huge amounts of such companies, like recording, photo and video editing software and so many others, produce rubbish, which, if you need them, you have to pay premium prices for, and then get completely fleeced, conned, etc. Is this the world we want to live in???? We are mere cash cows and that is all we are for Microsoft too! They don't need to do most of these updates, but those there want to earn their money, and the more they mess up, the more they earn to put it right again. Being forced to compensate their victims would put an end to this all, or else, forced out of business! Life is too short for this rubbish!

The next step is to identify which specific update or driver is breaking your mouse. Without that, the problem will keep repeating no matter how many times Windows is reinstalled.

Thanks, Anthony! I don't think that anyone knows why this happens and a lot of people, me included, just keep uninstalling updates, just Windows then tended to install them again. Once their people were telling me to uninstall a bunch of them, and as I was going to restart the laptop another one was being installed again. It was like living in a nightmare.... and what is the point of installing and uninstalling? They told me weeks ago that they knew all about such problems and were working hard to fix them, but, as soon as the updates started again, the whole madness started too. And as I edit videos and do recordings, that can mess up everything so hugely that it can wreck whole projects. And the daily annoyance is not a good thing either! But it is not only Microsoft who is at it... I have a Samsung mobile phone, and they have also been messing up things for months! Huge amounts of people very annoyed online, and those are only the ones who bother to complain, and you can't stop their updates.
