Visio How to Fit To Page?

I understand that you are trying to adjust your Visio diagram so that it fits cleanly on the page and remains centered, but the options you expect, such as Fit to Page, Fit to Drawing, or margin controls, do not appear in the Design tab. You also mentioned that your diagram consistently shifts to the bottom‑right corner instead of staying centered.

Based on the behavior you described, it appears you are working in Visio for the Web. This is important to note because the web version provides only basic page‑size controls. Features such as:

Fit to Page / Fit to Drawing

Automatic centering

Custom margins

Advanced Page Setup settings

are only available in the Visio Desktop application. Visio for the Web has limited layout, printing, and scaling capabilities, which explains why the expected tools do not appear in your interface.

Additionally, the off‑center behavior you are seeing often results from the shape “bounding box” extending beyond the visible area, sometimes due to connectors, hidden text boxes, or other elements slightly outside the main diagram. Normally, desktop‑only tools (Fit to Drawing, ShapeSheet margin controls) correct this, but they are not available in the web version.

Although the web version is limited, I suggest the 2 options below:

Option 1/ Use Page Break View for easier manual alignment

Since full Fit‑to‑Page features are not available online, I recommend enabling page boundaries to clearly see where your diagram sits on the page:

Go to: View > check Page Breaks

This will show you the actual printable area, making it much easier to manually adjust your diagram so it sits correctly within the page limits.

Option 2/ Use Visio Desktop for full control

If you require:

Automatic Fit‑to‑Page

Fit‑to‑Drawing

Margin editing

Page Setup > Print Setup

Developer > ShapeSheet tools

then you will need to open your diagram in the Visio Desktop app. This is the version that supports full page‑layout controls and resolves the centering and scaling issues you are experiencing.
