Managing profiles, sync settings, and sign-in options in Edge on macOS
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I want to remove old email addresses used to sign in to Edge. This has been a nuisance before but after our company sold a daughter company and we had to migrate our AD it is utterly horrible. I now have two email addresses but now never know which one to use (and actually both are the wrong one). I need to reset my browser and start afresh. And while we are on it I would appreciate if I could make Edge forget old email addresses as well.
This happens on both macOS and Windows 11 and I need to fix both. I have removed everything Microsoft related in ~/Library/Application Support and I have removed everything Microsoft related in Keychain Access (on macOS). But the email addresses keep coming back. Where do they come from?
I had to tag macOS but my question applies to Windows 11 as well.
Please assist. This is driving me nuts!
Managing profiles, sync settings, and sign-in options in Edge on macOS
after checking to test it works, even this method doesn't work.
No method works to remove your profile from the computer or microsoft edge as of dec 25 2025, they may have worked 2 years ago but not as of today. or if you enrolled in extended updates
you cannot even delete the folder internet explorer.
it worked for few times and the email pops up again. windows some how keeps a file saved so even you remove it somehow finds the user data. It's has to do with enrolling your windows for 'extended' support that requires you to have an outlook email. your operating system is tied to that email when you enrol. there is no need to enroll.
so none of the methods work which is what microsoft wants so people have to upgrade to windows 11 or use firefox or another browser.
I've tried all the complex suggestion and only way that works is via the 'control panel'. Other suggestions like going packages or application data etc. and there is no files to delete and is manual method doesn't work.
This is the only method that works and most logical and a lot faster and easier.
Clear Cached Credentials in web credentials method works:
control, and press Enter to open the Control Panel.Control Panel and remove credentials.
All other methods don't work and save yourself an hour trying to figure it out.
This method works by going to control panels and use the 'credential manager' and delete microsoft edge profile. under web settings. Graphic user interface is lot easier than trying to find the file in file system or regedit.
Do not delete any of the windows 'credentials'
This is as of December 23, 2025. It seems when you enroll your computer to microsoft extended security updates for windows 10 it needs your email account for some reason and has your email credentials locked into web credentials. The other old method was to delete the profile in web browser, but still the email is still on the web browser even reinstalling it is still in the web browser as it is the web credentials. or token.
Conclusion: this method works by going to CONTROL Panel under USER ACCOUNTS.
You may still need to go to settings in local computer. to fully remove it. the method below used to work but no longer works. so you may need to go to control panel and do two steps.
