Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hi MaryKaye,
Thank you for sharing your question. I understand that you’re having issues with your office license when you are using the word application, I am here to help.
First, check that you're logged in with the right Microsoft account, the one linked to your Office 2024 license. Just open any Office app, click File, then Account, and check the account shown under Product Information. If it's wrong, sign out and log back in with the correct one.
Next, try running the Office Activation Troubleshooter and Repair tool. Go to Windows Settings, then Apps, then Apps & Features, find Office, and click Modify. Try Quick Repair first, but if that doesn't work, go with Online Repair. Doing this should refresh the activation files and solve the problem.
Also, double-check that your Office 2024 license is good and hasn't expired. Since Office 2024 is a one-time purchase, make sure it's not being treated like a trial or subscription. If the product key wasn't correctly linked to your account when you bought it (like through office.com/setup), that could be why it's not activating.
Finally, make sure Office is up to date. Microsoft knows about a bug that can cause Office 2024 licenses to not be recognized correctly. Getting the newest Office updates should fix this issue and allow your license to be properly detected.
I hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Noel
